Headache and other aches and pains
After you get your shot, you might have achiness and muscle pain throughout your body or a few headaches as a flu vaccine side effect. This usually happens on the first day after you get it and goes away within a couple of days.
But, taking a few pain relievers can help reduce your discomfort. Whether it’s safe to take ibuprofen or acetaminophen to treat these vaccine side effects has been a controversial subject.
As we’ve mentioned, some research suggests that these pills might change or lower how your body responds to the vaccine.
One study involving children found that taking acetaminophen or ibuprofen didn’t reduce the body’s response to the flu vaccine. Other research is mixed.
