Believing These 8 Flu Shot Myths May Put Your Health at Risk

3. Waiting until winter for a flu vaccine is safer

While peak flu season starts in December and ends in February, you can get sick as early as October if you’re exposed to the virus. One of the most common flu shot myths is that if you get vaccinated later, you’ll be protected longer. This isn’t true. Moreover, believing that leaves you vulnerable for weeks or even months while the virus is floating around.

Doctors recommend getting the vaccine as soon as it’s available, preferably before October. The flu shot is usually widely available at community health centers, pharmacies, and other locations in September, and you can also ask your GP for it.

However, even if you’ve delayed the shot, January is still better than no flu shot at all.

No point in reading past #1…This point right off the bat is WRONG…My father would get the flu every time he took the flu shot so he stopped getting them and no more flu. So…stop spreading lies!!!
