6. The Fleeting Illusion of Second Sight
Some individuals with developing nuclear sclerotic cataracts experience a paradoxical, temporary improvement in their close-up vision, commonly known as second sight. As the center of the lens hardens and densifies, its refractive power temporarily increases, allowing you to read books or digital screens without reading glasses. While this sudden improvement may seem beneficial, it indicates progressive lens hardening that eventually gives way to diminished visual clarity.
