6. Eligibility, verification & enrollment rules tightening

Several regulatory changes will impact how people qualify for marketplace plans or subsidies:

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) of 2025 puts in motion changes to Medicaid, CHIP, and marketplace rules that begin in early 2026.

Some states require more documentation of income/eligibility; some enrollees with a $0 premium may face new monthly charges if they don’t verify.

Action: Keep your address, household size, income, and other data updated in your marketplace profile ahead of the 2026 open enrollment window.
