3. Influenza vaccine

Believe it or not, in the United States, there are between 12,000 and 52,000 people who die annually because of flu-related causes. Besides this, there are many more who are hospitalized because of the flu. This makes the influenza vaccine one of the vaccines every senior should get.

As you might expect, the elderly are more vulnerable to the flu, and they have a higher chance of developing severe symptoms and even dying from it. The CDC reports that people 65 and older account for 70–85% of flu-related fatalities. Even more, this age group accounts for 50–70% of flu-related hospitalizations.

If you don’t know what to choose between the flu shot and the nasal flu vaccine, we are here to tell you to get the flu shot. This is what medics recommend, and if you are 65 or older, you should also get one of the adjuvant flu vaccines or higher-dose vaccines: Flublok Quadrivalent, Fluzone High-Dose Quadrivalent, or Fluad Quadrivalent.
