4. Flu shots are only for children and the elderly
This is one of the worst flu shot myths because it is so common for people to believe it, so they choose not to get the vaccine if they don’t fall into the elderly category.
Experts point out that people of all ages (except for babies less than six months old) can benefit from the influenza vaccine. In fact, it’s collectively good for the community when younger and middle-aged people get the flu shot.
Studies show that when adults get vaccinated, kids and seniors are more protected. Basically, if fewer people become sick, then fewer people will come in contact with the grandparents or grandchildren who are most at risk of developing complications from influenza infections.
