6. Changes to Special Supplemental Benefits (SSBCI) in Medicare Advantage

Some Supplemental Benefits for the Chronically Ill (SSBCI) in Medicare Advantage plans will be restricted. Certain non-health benefits (e.g. home modifications, meal delivery) may no longer qualify under SSBCI in 2026.

๐Ÿ’ก What you can do:

  • Review what extra benefits your plan offered (meals, transportation, etc.).
  • Be prepared for benefit reductions; budget for out-of-pocket costs for services no longer covered.
